Lion Cipher Lab

Install Docker (Windows, with WSL 2)

Why it matters

Containers are how modern software and most hands-on security labs actually run. Getting Docker working once unlocks a huge amount of practice — vulnerable web apps, whole SOC environments, tools that would be a nightmare to install by hand. It is also the exact engine Lion Cipher's future in-browser labs run on, so this is the doorway to everything hands-on.

What you'll learn

Steps in this lab

  1. What Docker is, in one breath
  2. Check you're ready (30 seconds)
  3. Turn on WSL 2 — the engine Docker uses
  4. Install Docker Desktop
  5. Start it and prove it works
  6. What you just did — and why it matters
